<body><![CDATA[The British record industry, hidebound in so many respects, has only recently played host to Anglo-Asian music-makers in any meaningful sense. On his debut album, Jay Sean makes it clear what he thinks about this: ΓÇ£Now the Asian scene is the place to be,ΓÇ¥ he spits, ΓÇ£ever since Goodness Gracious Me graced the scene.ΓÇ¥ Artfully, he sets this complaint to a Stevie Wonder-like keyboard figure, a trade-off, perhaps, for all those Timbaland Asian stylings. If this pairing seems novel now, very soon ΓÇô and the sooner the better ΓÇô that novelty will pass. On the basis of tracks such as Ramta Jogi, On & on and One Night, and the athletic vocal style he deploys, Sean has a very bright future indeed, however slow he feels people have been to realise this.
